Balfour Aralia

Along the paths on the premises of the Foundation and Eco-Logic Thailand you will find many types of Aralia plants, such as this Balfour Aralia.

 

Aralia Balfour is a shrub or small tree that rarely flowers, it has glossy, light green leaves with irregular milk-white markings at its margins. The stiffly upright growth habit, comprised of many stems, works well as a hedge or screen. In its natural habitat this tree can reach up to 6 meter in height.

The plant is know to purifies and adds moisture to the air, when kept as an indoor plant.

The Balfour Aralia is an evergreen plant, that can flower - if it flowers - throughout the year.


 

The papaya is a small, sparsely branched tree, usually with a single stem growing from 5 to 10 meter tall, with spirally arranged leaves confined to the top of the trunk. The lower trunk is usually scarred where leaves and fruit were borne. All parts of the plant contain latex.

The leaves of the papaya are large, 50-70 cm in diameter, with seven lobes.

Aralia Balfour has glossy, light green leaves with irregular milk-white markings at its margins.







 


The flowers are five-parted; the male flowers have the stamens fused to the petals. The female flowers have a superior ovary and five contorted petals loosely connected at the base. The flowers are sweet-scented, open at night, and wind- or insect-pollinated.
