The Megas plant is also known as Brazilian red-cloak and Red Justicia. It is a free branching, upright showy tropical shrub that grows to 3 meter high with appressed reddish hairs, stout stems, and broad ovate 12–30 centimeter long dark green leaves with pink midrib. It is grown for its flowers: large erect heads of crimson bracts, and two-lipped white flowers.
