The Zebra plant can be found on the premises of Eco-Logic, near the restaurant and the accommodation.
The Zebra Plant, also know as Yellow Sanchezia, Shrubby Whitevein and Gold Vein Plant is a perennial shrub with large, colorful bracts and flowers, and colorful leaves. It can grow up to 1.5 to 3 meter high.
The leaves of the Zebra plant are 20 to 25 centimeter long, elliptic, dark green with variable streaks of bright yellow.
The plant has long spikes of bright yellow flowers, tubular, 5 centimeter long, that are surrounded by red or orange bracts.
The plant rarely produces fruits oblong capsule-like fruits containing about 6 to 8 compressed circular seeds.
The Zebra plant flowers during the dry season from April to September.
THE PLANT

The Zebra Plant is also used for medicinal purposes. Research suggests the roots possesses antifungal, antibacterial, anti-cancerous, and insecticidal properties, whereas some compounds present in the leaves have been found to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
