The mushrooms can be found in the mushroom farm, opposite the Special School of the Thai Child Development Foundation on Mount Never-rest.
The oyster mushroom does not grow in the wild in Paksong area, but we like to mention it anyway on this website, because the oyster mushroom farm on the premises of the Thai Child Development Foundation and Eco-Logic Thailand is a place where you can pick these mushrooms.
The mushrooms are also called , abalone, or tree mushrooms. The Thai name means angel- or fairy mushroom (hed nangfa).
Oyster mushroom can be harvested every 10-14 days.
OYSTER MUSHROOM
the oyster mushroom is a common edible mushroom.
They are grow in an ideal temperature range of about 55 to 65 °F. Most oyster mushroom growing kits consist of either a small inoculated log or a holey plastic bag filled with sterilized, inoculated straw or sawdust.
At the TCDF mushroom farm the mushrooms grown from plastic bags, filled with sawdust and mushroom spawn. They grown in a dark, moist and warm environment.
CULINARY USES OF OYSTER MUSHROOM
The oyster mushroom is frequently used in Thai cooking. It is served on its own, in soups, stuffed, or in tempura or stir-fry recipes.
Oyster mushrooms contain small amounts of arabitol, a sugar alcohol, which may cause gastrointestinal upset in some people.
